One Shot, one Kill

Uhhhmmm… any way, it's huge, you can pretend you are chic while you wear it

The "it" factor

Everyone has heard of it, yet clearly defining such a term is nearly impossible. I for one can offer no definitive definition myself. However whatever "it" is, Asher's got it in spades. With her seemingly lighthearted, devil may care attitude towards fashion, Asher is making waves with her blog OneTurnKill and her Instagram account that now boasts nearly 18k followers. She took some time out of her busy schedule to give us the lowdown on everything OTK.

Coll8te: Just to give our readers a little bit of an intro into who you are can you tell us a little bit about your background and why you decided to start a blog?

Asher from OTK
Asher:
I started a blog after doing a bit of SEO type blogging for my own online vintage shop and then for a while for a startup brand. I realized I actually liked blogging despite my utter disdain for writing, but I really wanted to write about what I was interested in, not necessarily what was trending on Twitter.

Coll8te: What does the name of your blog “One Turn Kill” mean?

Asher from OTK
Asher:
One Turn Kill is actually a card game term, meaning you can take everyone out in one turn. I feel like the fashion game is a lot like that on a daily basis. You only walk into a room for the first time once and you've got to kill it with one outfit.

Coll8te: What is ultimately your goal for One Turn Kill?

Asher from OTK
Asher:
I have started to share more home décor and things of that nature and have gotten a really good response from it. I see myself working OTK in that direction a bit, but still keeping the focus on fashion.

Coll8te: Who is the “One Turn Kill” reader?

Asher from OTK
Asher:
The OTK reader is someone who wants something different out of a blogger, more personality and color. It's someone who doesn't necessarily always feel fulfilled by the plain white wall, white pants, and white Birkenstocks. Don't get me wrong, I love a good white wall and some days white on white works, but I love a good color splash too. Silly things make me happy and I write my blog for people who also appreciate such things.

Coll8te: Your photos look like you took them from a magazine. How'd you get so good at photography?

Asher from OTK
Asher:
I have some really killer photographers on my side for my outfit photos. Lately I have been working a lot with Randy Tran and Sylvia Gunde who are both absolutely stellar photographers. As far as the other pictures I post go, I think it all just comes down to practice. I have taken so many pictures of just stuff on a table or on the floor, eventually you learn what works and what doesn't. Photography has been important from day one, it's a make or break for me.
